Frequently Asked Questions about Mobile Car Diagnostics & Auto Electrical Auckland
What diagnostic equipment do you use?
We carry professional OBD2 scanners capable of reading manufacturer-specific codes (not just generic ones), plus oscilloscopes, multimeters, and manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools. This means we can access the same fault data as main dealer workshops.
Can you fix the problem on the spot?
Many issues, yes — sensor replacements, wiring repairs, relay and fuse swaps, connector repairs, and battery or alternator changes are all done on-site. More complex ECU reprogramming or specialist component work may require a referral, but we'll diagnose the fault accurately so you know exactly what's needed.
How much is a diagnostic?
Our standard mobile diagnostic starts from $120, which includes the call-out and up to one hour of testing and fault analysis. If you proceed with a repair, the diagnostic fee is typically included in the total job cost.
What does a check engine light mean?
A check engine light (CEL) could indicate anything from a loose fuel cap to a failing catalytic converter, misfiring cylinder, or faulty oxygen sensor. It's your car's way of telling you something needs attention. Proper diagnostic scanning is essential — guessing can lead to expensive, unnecessary part replacements.
